The Point Pool is a unique game of strategy, knowledge and luck based on the results of football games, that grabs and holds your attention from opening weekend right through the playoffs and the big game.
You start with two things: 50 points for wagering and an assigned schedule of two NFL games per week for the entire regular season. Each schedule is unique and randomly generated by our patent pending system which guarantees that you’ll get every NFL team at least once.
Each week, you have to decide which team will win each of your two assigned games and how many points you want to risk on each game. If your pick wins the game, your wager value gets added to your total. If your pick loses, the wager amount gets subtracted. The object is to build up your points to the greatest extent possible, but beware if your total reaches zero, you’re out.
The wagering rules are also simple. You must wager a minimum of 5% of your points on each game and you can’t wager more points in any given week than you have. Outside of that, anything goes. You can put 10% on each game, 50% on one, 10% on the other you choose. And don’t worry; the web site handles all of the math.
It is important to understand that you are picking teams to WIN each game. Point spreads have no effect on whether you win or lose points. But they do determine underdog odds.
When you take a favorite or a slight underdog, you can only win what you wager. But if you take a bigger underdog, you can get odds that are determined by the size of the spread. The odds range from 2:1 all the way up to 20:1, but before you get too excited, remember ... your team must win the game for you to collect.
There are no weekly winners in the Point Pool. The focus is entirely on building your point total to position yourself for the playoffs, where everything comes to a head. In the playoffs, you wager on every game, head to head, against all of the other players.
The minimum wagers increase as well, going to 10% for the wildcard games, 15% for the divisional games and 20% for the championship games before dropping to zero for the Big Game. Between the head-to-head matchups, the increasing minimum wagers and the underdog odds, anything can happen.
All in all, whether you are a football fanatic or a casual fan that just likes watching football, the Point Pool is simply the most engaging and entertaining football pool you’ll find . . . anywhere.
